Here is an all included Jazz duet with a soloistic beginning in the two trumpets followed by a bass vamp which introduces the melody. Each trumpet player has an equal amount of solo time and the 1st trumpet has an individual solo in the middle with a background part in the 2nd trumpet part.
High notes are written but octaves below are also included.
A surprise ¾, fugal section is also included for interests and contrast.
The number closes with an interesting bass part.
This would be a great number for a serious Jazz program.
I was just contacted by the trumpet player I wrote this piece for, Al Naylor (pictured above) and he sent me his recording of it. Al is a good friend and an outstanding jazz player from Iowa. Not often do you get a recording from the person that the number was written for and I thank Al for his kindness and talents.
