If this seems to have a floating, shifting meter throughout, you are right on. The complexity of this piece is amazing. At first I thought the original sequencer had made mistakes in his/her counting but after careful investigation, I found that the supporting instruments (Horns, Baritone, Tuba had very predictable lines. It is only the Trumpet parts that are difficult to count. The Trumpet players will have the most difficulty in counting.
I would love to visit with the original sequencer in order to completely understand his/her thought on this piece.
