This is the sixty fifth in a series of arrangements composed/arr./trans. for use in Solo/Ensemble contests and will help fill the need for new material for competing middle school and high school players. Each of these ensembles are selected to show the very best qualities of your ensemble and through careful editing, each has a professional sound with only an average playing ability.
Once in a while I do something for myself and this is one of those times. I didn’t write it as a solo for me, to play; although I would like to. I wrote this for two reasons-
I wanted to write something challenging from a serious composer stand point.
and…..
I am completely fulfilled in both areas!
Your request will include a trumpet part and a String quartet background track suitable for rehearsal purposes or for stage presentations.
I have also included a concert pitch vocal part (including the Psalm #23 text) if you would like to sing the solo.
I rate this as my best works this month and encourage everyone to get a copy. It is much more than a trumpet solo. I rate it up with an Operatic number which is one reason I wrote it to take almost 7 minutes to perform. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS NUMBER!
Cuts are optional for contest use.
