Sometimes friends will request material which needs attention and this is one such arrangement. One of our longtime friends needed an arrangement of “Auld Lang Syne” for a fast approaching Christmas program and had a few requirements. This is the kind of requests I really enjoy.
I have to explain the dissonance in one of the measures-
After the clash, each player turns to the others and questions who played the wrong note. After a short amount of discussion, one player reaches over to another and very visibly turns a sheet of music right side up. We have used this on another of our pieces and it always goes over big.
Also the extended "shave and a haircut" measure at the end is where each player holds their position until the last measure is played in time.
