This is a Theme and Variation arrangement based on the old familiar Hymn "Just A Closer Walk With Thee". Each variation is written with contrasting elements. Two variations sound similar for one is based on a descending scale and the other is based on an ascending melodic line. Contrasting tempi and shared solo parts make it very interesting for the players and their audiences.
I would consider this one of the best arrangements for this year. Of course this is only the 17th day of the year so there isn't much to compare it to.
