When disasters occur, our first question is “Why”. Why do events such as these occur and why do the innocent suffer from these occurrences? Why do these disasters seem to be happening more frequently? Is this foretelling something to come? Are we now entering times predicted in the last book of the Bible? Man has predicted this for centuries and no man knows when this might occur. Whether you believe in the prophecy of the “end times” or not, we must recognize the suffering of our friends in Nepal. For that reason I offer this simple yet heartfelt tribute to those who have lost so much in the past week.

As officials in Nepal faced the devastation on Sunday morning, they said that most of the 1,931 deaths occurred in Katmandu and the surrounding valley, and that more than 4,700 people had been injured. But the quake touched a vast expanse of the subcontinent. It set off avalanches around Mount Everest, where at least 17 climbers died. At least 34 deaths occurred in northern India. Buildings swayed in Tibet and Bangladesh.
