Transcribing music written during the Renaissance Period can be challenging, for the vocal parts sometimes do not lend themselves to trumpet characteristics. Long lines with few breaks can be a problem and this is why I choose to find a well written composition for three voices and add an additional part to give relief to the chops.
I was very pleased with outcome of this vocal number and if you ever have an occasion where you have a request for a composition from this period to be performed by a trumpet quartet, you’re all set!
This would be a fine number on any recital or as a contest piece.
