This is dedicated to all who were affected by 9/11/01 which includes everyone. The title was carefully selected for obvious reasons and within the piece are elements which represent that day in history. The opening fanfare section represents the New York skyline before the attack. The slow descending line in measures 16-27 represent the image of the towers collapsing in slow motion which we all remember. The repeated rhythm in the fourth part represents the solid base of the structure which will again serve as the foundation of the new building. The repeated rhythm of the snare drum represents the constant efforts of our country to overcome all hardships in our path. The middle section was written as a Hymn to all who perished that day. The modulation and crescendo represents our hopes for peace in troubled times.
